The Commission to Hear EQUS’s Request for Declaratory Relief regarding Fortis’s Exit Charges

The Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission) decides whether to grant FortisAlberta Inc. (Fortis)’s motion to dismiss EQUS REA LTD. (EQUS)’s application for declaratory relief regarding exit charges levied by Fortis to two consumers. The Commission also decides whether to allow the Consumers’ Coalition of Alberta (CCA) and Rocky Rural Electrification Association Limited (Rocky REA) to participate in this proceeding (#26668).

BURNCO Complaint Against FORTISALBERTA Terms & Conditions

On July 27, 2017 BURNCO Rock Products Ltd submitted a complaint against FortisAlberta because of a “Customer Exit Charge” levied against the company when it cancelled service at two of its sites. BURNCO argues that the charge means Fortis is recovering costs that were already recovered through the particular arrangements of the service contracts.
